“On May 21 at 7:00 pm, enjoy a screening of the classic Hitchcock film The 39 Steps at The Westdale! Following the film there will be a film talk hosted by host Jeffrey Bender, where he will guide the audience through a discussion about the film and it’s themes! Plus, it’s the 90th Anniversary of this film!
Based on the novel by John Buchan, Hitchcock creates a classic spy thriller for the ages. After a night out in London, Richard Hannay (Robert Donat) gets embroiled in an espionage racket when a glamorous spy, Annabelle (Lucie Mannheim), is murdered in his flat. Hannay goes on the run to Scotland after being accused of her murder, looking for evidence to prove his innocence and catch the real racket ringleader. In his quest, he runs into a sceptical blonde, Pamela (Madeleine Carroll). Accidentally handcuffed to each other and forced to spend time together, they soon realize they are on the same side.
