“In February and March 2018, Empowerment Squared partnered with Hamilton Youth Poets to host the Black Poet Residency, a poetry workshop series where youth explored expressing and establishing their identities, and ultimately created their own poetry videos. Established artists Ian Keteku and Eklipz, and emerging artists Eddie Lartey, Chukky Ibe, Evelyna Ekoko-Kay, Ry DeRiggs, and Akintoye Asalu, led this program. The Residency was part of Empowerment Squared’s Our Youth Our Future campaign, which was supported by the Ontario Black Youth Action Plan.
